The Duchess of Sussex, 39, says that she doesn’t want a baby shower for their second child because she feels that their “time and resources can be used for a better purpose” and there has been “too much strife” in the world lately.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting a daughter soon, but the couple has reportedly dropped the idea of a get-together.
Meghan’s friend Serena Williams threw a lavish baby shower for Harry and Meghan’s firstborn Archie, now 2, in a luxurious penthouse in New York.
After a year of struggle for people all around the world due to Covid-19, Meghan feels like there are more important matters for her and Harry to focus on.
“Meghan doesn’t feel a big baby shower with gifts is appropriate right now,” a source told US Weekly. “There is too much strife in the world. She and Harry have been so involved with humanitarian issues, they both feel their time and resources can be used for a better purpose.”
“Harry is the ideal partner, taking care of Archie and working to provide for his family,” the source said, adding that Meghan, who is due in the summertime, is not alone as she is surrounded by friends and Prince Harry to support her.
Meghan and Harry announced on Valentine’s Day that they were expecting a second child and the Duchess also revealed the heartbreaking news that she had a miscarriage last July.
During their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, the royal couple revealed they are expecting a daughter.
“Grateful, having any child, any one or a two would have been amazing, but to have a boy and then a girl,” Prince Harry said. “Now we’ve got our family and we’ve got four of us.”
Meghan recently spoke about her baby girl during a speech for Global Citizen’s Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World.
“My husband and I are thrilled to soon be welcoming a daughter. It’s a feeling of joy we share with millions of other families around the world,” she said. “When we think of her, we think of all the other families around the globe who must be given the ability and support to lead us forward.”
The Vax Live was Meghan’s first televised appearance since the bombshell Oprah interview in March.
