Metropolitan police officer Wayne Couzens was charged recently for the kidnap and murder of missing executive Sarah Everard.
The 48-year-old officer belongs to Scotland Yard’s Parliamentary as well as Diplomatic Protection Command. Moreover, he was recently charged after more than 3 days of back-to-back questioning by a series of murder detectives.
In the same way, he was also arrested last Tuesday, around a week after news broke out relating to how 33-year-old marketing executive Sarah Everard disappeared. She was reportedly last seen while walking home towards Brixton from her friend’s home in Clapham in South London.
Couzens will now appear at Westminister’s Magistrates’ Court, later today.
Now, it is being reported how the latest development in the case came forward as the father of 2 was immediately rushed towards St. George’s hospital, after suffering a set of fresh head injuries that took place on Friday. Moreover, he was treated for his second injury that he sustained in custody, just 48 hours before getting discharged.
After his treatment, he returned back towards the police station, as mentioned by the Metropolitan Police.
Scotland Yard mentioned how the suspect was taken into a hospital for his medical treatment that he sustained in his own jail cell on Friday. At that time, he was under complete monitoring by officers and hence received immediate first aid for his condition.
In another statement released by the Press, Rosemary Ainslie who heads the special crime division at Crown Prosecution Service mentioned how they received a referral of evidence by the state’s Metro Police in relation to Sarah Everard’s death.
Therefore, they have authorized them to charge Wayne with the murder as well as the kidnapping of Sarah Everard.
Talking outside Scotland Yard, Assistant Commissioner Nick Ephgrave offered his condolences to Sarah’s family, while paying tribute to her loved ones for their great fortitude as well as forbearance through this difficult time.
