Citizens of New York City were baffled to hear how the famous ’21 Club’ restaurant is all set to close down.
Yes, the shocking news came out recently, with many dreading the reality. According to media sources, the mega hotspot served for an iconic period of 90 years. But today, it was revealed how it will no longer exist. Known for its great food and more for celebrity intrigue, many US citizens identified with the spot.
Situated on 21 West, 52nd Street, in Midtown, it was definitely the place to be for New Yorkers. At the same time, it was quite normal to see plenty of stars such as Ernest Hemingway, Frank Sinatra, and John Steinbeck too. But that was just the beginning of the long list of A-stars who proudly recommended the dining spot.
For instance, 21 Club also had the honor of hosting almost every single President, since FDR. And that meant shutting it’s guarded doors for a certain period of time to accommodate the VIP protocol.
With 148 employees under its belt, the organization reports how it will be out of business, as early as March of next year. Meanwhile, the restaurant released a public press release where they mentioned the breaking news.
“The company intends to explore more potential opportunities that will ensure 21 Club remains as a viable operative setup, in the long term era.” The spokesperson for the restaurant also explained how the step is necessary for retaining the organization’s signature character.
With that said, the spokesperson didn’t reveal any final timeframe or concepts relating to the ordeal. They believe it’s too soon to talk about the future now. At the same time, the restaurant expressed how their vision will continue to include their prominence as a quintessential social as well as a cultural hub.
