Philippines leader Rodrigo Duterte says the post of the presidency is a job that’s unfit for women.
The strange and offensive comment came when reporters questioned the leader of the government regarding his own daughter’s status in terms of joining the elections. Therefore, he commented on how she wouldn’t be taking part as it was not a job for females.
When it came to the actual reason why he mentioned how men and women differ emotionally. In particular, he referred to how women bring in their emotional differences to the world of politics. And for that reason, they aren’t able to perform well in that post.
“Women have emotional differences with men.” On that note, he dismissed all the alleged speculations regarding his daughter succeeding him, next year.
“My daughter isn’t running. I have specifically told her not to take part,” he mentioned. “I pity her because I know she will have to go through what I am going through.” The shocking comments came during the leader’s visit for the opening of a recent highway project. And needless to say, it shocked plenty of people in the audience as well as those who read his interview.
In addition, the bold leader mentioned how women are more likely to become a fool if they opt to enter the world of politics. While mentioning it’s a sad affair, he also added how it’s the truth. The 75-year-old is notorious for his comments in general, with offensive lines being a norm.
Previously, the Philipines had two female presidents which included Corazon Aquino and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. On the other hand, the Philippine Government laughed off the leader’s comments, concluding how it was just harmless jokes. They failed to see how sexist they may be.
Strangely, the minister is still hugely popular among female voters. But that didn’t stop human rights activists from making their fair share of comments on the issue. They mentioned how women are just as capable as men when it came to holding a position in the office.
