Two photos of Prince George have been released on Wednesday to mark his 7th birthday.
Taken by his mother the Duchess of Cambridge earlier this month at the family’s Norfolk home, the photos show the young royal flashing his gap-toothed smile.
One of the pictures show the young prince is dressed in a dark green polo shirt while smiling at the camera, while the other shows him in a camouflage-designed T-shirt as he stands side-on.
A statement released by Kensington Palace said, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share two new photographs of Prince George ahead of his seventh birthday tomorrow.”
Prince George, who is third in line to the throne, was born on July 22, 2013 at St Mary’s Hospital in London.
He is expected to be the 43rd monarch since William the Conqueror in 1066, and will follow on as king from his grandfather, the Prince of Wales, and then his father, the Duke of Cambridge.
And yet, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been doing their best to gently introduce him to the idea that his future might be a bit more mapped out than any of his classmates.
A source said that the young prince is “turning out to be a really happy, well-adjusted little boy.”
While Prince George can sometimes come across as a serious boy – cautious and sensitive as he developed a clear wariness of the cameras, friends say that he is actually a bundle of fun.
Julia Samuels, Prince George’s godmother and a psychotherapist who became close to Lady Diana in 1987, describes him as “funny and feisty and cheeky.”
The Prince, alongside his brother and sister, have been homeschooling as the pandemic forced schools to shutdown.
“The children have got such stamina I don’t know how,” his mother Kate Middleton said in an interview.
“You pitch a tent, take the tent down again, cook, bake. You get to the end of the day and they have had a lovely time – but it is amazing how much you can cram into one day, that’s for sure.”
