If you happen to watch last night’s viral event of Joe Biden’s inauguration, you may have noticed purple was in full swing.
Yes, it was definitely a popular choice amongst new vice president Kamala Harris and former first ladies Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton. However, if you think that it was a mere coincidence, you might need to think again.
For those who aren’t aware, purple isn’t only stunning to look at, it carries a deep meaning too. Certainly, purple is the hue of royalty, while being the badge of honor that gets bestowed on heroic soldiers. In the same way, it is a bipartisan color that represents an act of unity during a time of political division.
Therefore, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that what better time to flaunt the hue than now?
The ladies dazzled in the royal hue, looking picture perfect and uberly stylish by all means. Harris appeared regal in a purple ensemble that was created by young Black designer Christopher John Rogers. In addition, she made history as the first woman and first black & South Asian woman to retain this honorary stance.
Pictures showed how the 56-year-old, accompanied by her husband, couldn’t stop smiling while pairing her ensemble with a matching purple coat. Complete with pearls, mask, and stellar heels- she nailed the fashion aspect by miles.
On the other hand, 57-year-old Mrs. Obama appeared ravishing in a plum toned floor-length coat. The former first lady opted to pair her look with a fitted turtle neck and wide-leg trousers by designer Sergio Hudson. Needless to say, the tailoring looked impeccable on her.
73-year-old Mrs. Clinton shined in a bright purple toned tailored suit with a matching scarf. The former first lady paired her look with a darker toned purple wool coat too, giving the look an extra element of greatness.
Mrs. Bush, House Speaker Pelosi, and the new First Lady Jill Biden stood out in ravishing shades of blue. Clearly, this inauguration celebrated life, unity, and democracy. And the outfits complimented the theme impeccably.
