The CCTV footage showed a heartbreaking incident when a crook attacked an older woman at a cashpoint.
The older adult was in a wheelchair, and another woman who apparently looked like her caretaker was withdrawing money from the ATM in north London when the incident took place.A suspicious man dressed in blue tracksuit bottom and black jacket stood beside them with a sharp eye on their movement.
As soon as the lady withdrew the money, he attacked her and took £20 and ran away.None of the women or bystanders could see his face as he was wearing a face mask. The helpless woman looked at the thug as he ran, taking her money.
A lady, Madelaine, approached the terrified woman and posted the short video clip on social media.
The woman wrote that a similar incident took place half an hour before with her father as a thug rushed to snatch his £250 while he was withdrawing the money. The father was 71-year-old, and the incident took place at an ATM on the same road. The woman was disgusted by the incident and said it feels so bad when you see people taking advantage of the elderly, especially during a pandemic.
The 71-year-old father retired a few weeks before the deplorable incident occurred.
Madelaine met the old lady when she was on her way to reach her father, who encountered a similar incident.
The poor granny was so sad and terrified and can’t get over the loss of her £20.She said she would never revisit an ATM as people in this age are an easy target for robbers. Madelaine is a bakery owner, and she didn’t disclose the name of her father but confirmed that he is healing from the shock, and the bank management had refunded his money.
The video showed the man in short hair attacking the older woman in a wheelchair; he snatched the money and fled from the scene. Police are yet to comment on the situation.
