A “flying” turtle and a car meet in an unlikeable way on a US freeway in early May depicting a scene from the popular game Mario Kart.
The said incident took place in Georgia on May 12 when Latonya Lark, together with his brother Kevin Grant, was driving down the Savanna freeway. The turtle was allegedly clipped by another car, which caused it to fly, penetrate, and be implanted into Latonya’s windscreen.
Latonya was left unharmed, and her brother Kevin, who was at the passenger seat, attained a few minor cuts. However, the same cannot be said to the windscreen of the car which was badly damaged. The car had to be towed away because of this surreal incident.
Latonya posted on Facebook to share this one-of-a-kind incident and said:
“My prior delimer… Mr. Turtle was found at fault but he did not have insurance. He got escorted to the Wildlife reserve, I got stuck with the bill. So beware Savannah of flying turtle on the Truman Parkway. My brother almost lost his head. Besides my sugar going off the roof… I am fine but disturbed.”
The comments section shared their bewilderment on this incident saying ‘Just when you think you’ve seen it all. Corona, murder hornets, now flying turtles! We’re doomed’, another comment said, ‘I don’t understand how this could have happened it doesn’t make sense.’ There were also speculations that the turtle had been dropped off by a bird of prey.
Also, during an interview with the news channel, WSAV News, Latonya claimed that at first, she thought that it was a brick flying at her window. She added:
“Even the police officer said if that glass wasn’t as thick as it was and I didn’t slow down the way I did when I saw the object coming, it would’ve been disastrous.”
Following the incident, Latonya urged the drivers to pay more attention to the road when driving.
The said “flying” turtle was given care at the Savannah Animal Care, but unfortunately lost a leg, and days later, died due to blood loss.
