At 18-years-old, Raegan Pile is one of the women who got pregnant at a young age.
After breaking up with her ex-boyfriend who she’d dated for a year, her family helped and supported her in the decision of putting her baby up for adoption.
Now, ten years have passed, regret doesn’t even strike Raegan from the decision she made that day. Luckily, her high school boyfriend at that time made amends and now they’re both happily married with another child.
She shared this story of hers on Love What Matters and there she explained how their love story started in high school.
Raegan and her ex-boyfriend ended their one-year relationship and went on separate ways.
Their lives crossed once again and shared a ‘magical night’ together. However, one month later, Raegan found out that she’s growing a baby inside her belly.
Raegan told this news to the baby’s father but she got a cold reaction, she was just 18-years-old but she understood why.
She went for her parents, her mother was in tears while her father “never seen my father so speechless”.
A week came, her parents stepped in and help Raegan figure out what to do next and they decided “adoption was best.”
Two months later, Raegan decided to look and meet prospective adoptive parents who will take good care of her baby.
“We knew we couldn’t give our baby the life we dreamed for him on our own,” she said “I didn’t need to ask questions because I knew they are going to be my son’s parents”.
Raegan admitted that nervousness crawled to her but she fights for it since she knew it’s for the betterment of the child.
The adoptive parents meet Raegan the next day with their son. The son will be an older brother to her unborn child, and at that time she knew that “my baby would be perfectly loved in this family.”
When her due date came, she remembered the feeling of “devastated that the baby hadn’t come yet”
Feeling “extra tired” the following day, she thought she had “peed” herself until she realized that her water just broke, and through the help of her mother and brother, they arrived in the hospital within an hour.
Raegan was “so happy” that her son’s adoptive parents arrived at the hospital not long after.
It is a vivid memory, she recalled herself screaming until “a calm came over the room when the doctor placed him on my chest”
“I don’t want to hold him long because I knew I wouldn’t let him go,” she said.
Counting his fingers and toes, she told his son how much she loves him. Raegan cherishes this moment until she told her mother that “it’s time.”
“Bittersweet tears were in both of our eyes,” Raegan said.
Her son’s new parents came back to the room handling him over to his new mother, Raegan asked for “one request” and she gave the baby “one last kiss”.
Raegan remembers the moment “comforting” because of the “beam with pride and love” she had seen to the new parents.
It was strange for Raegan to went home without a baby and admitted that she didn’t even cry not until her parents called her for a dinner and it suddenly hit her.
Despite this, Raegan firmly said that she did not regret her decision.
“It’s been 10 years and my decision is always reconfirmed every time I see them,” she said. “We see him every year on his birthday.”
And now, Raegan and her husband celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary. She said that she experienced three miscarriages before she finally got pregnant again.
“It’s crazy that 10 years ago I thought my life was ending when in reality, it was only just beginning,” she added.
